about

I had chosen Psalm 150:3-6 as my "ministry verse" prior to the release of my first album "Everlasting, Wonderful, Immanuel", but it wasn't until later that I attempted to put the words to music. I admit making substitutions for some of the instruments: mouth harp for harp, guitar for lyre, and modern trumpet for Old Testament "trumpet" which is really the shofar or ram's horn. For a much different vibe to this text, check out P.O.D.'s "Psalm 150" which simply recites the Hebrew text on top of a rather somber, reverent backdrop. While I decided to present the text in a more celebratory fashion, the Hebrew reveals the origin of the word "Hallelu-Jah" which I brought out in the last chorus where it is sung in conjunction with the English "Praise the-LORD".

lyrics

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD (x4)

Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet.
Praise Him with the flute and the strings.
Praise Him for His surpassing greatness;
That is why we shout and sing!

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD (x4)

Praise Him with the clash of the cymbals.
Praise Him with the harp and guitar.
Praise Him dancing and timbrels.
Praise Him with the loud and resounding cymbals!

Let everything that has breath hallelu-Jah (x4)

Hallelu-Jah (x8)

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD/hallelu-Jah (x4)

Hallelu-Jah (x8)
