This is a song about events in life where your daily life is radically different before and after the milestone. Even positive events like moving for a new job, sending a child off to college, or walking a daughter down the aisle leave changes in their wake that can be disorienting for a while. But as the days pass, routines become ingrained, the new normal takes over, and you start hitting your stride again. Looking back can still bring pangs of nostalgia or even loss, but there's no use dwelling there. Time to get on with the rest of your life.
